Polaroid, marchio di occhiali storico inventore delle lenti polarizzate, lancia Heritage, il progetto
composto da diverse capsule collection, che ripercorreranno la storia del brand: dagli anni ’30, al
presente re-interpretati, secondo le tendenze del momento. Ogni collezione sarà composta da
occhiali che si distinguono per il fascino delle forme, rielaborate secondo un’interpretazione
stilistica contemporanea, per diventare il simbolo di una estetica che va oltre la moda.
La collezione Heritage non vuole esprimere un tuffo nel passato, ma un
omaggio all’incredibile capacità di innovare che ha caratterizzato Polaroid
fin dalle origini.
Il suo fondatore, Edwin Land, infatti, fu un visionario che cambiò il modo
di vedere il mondo, grazie all’invenzione del filtro polarizzante. Questa
innovazione rivoluzionaria, ancora oggi, è centro di tutta la tecnologia della
polarizzazione, dalle lenti fotografiche agli schermi.
Era il 1939 quando la Chrysler Corporation, all’esposizione internazionale
World Trade Fair di New York, proiettò il primo film commerciale in 3D. Sia
la ripresa, sia la proiezione furono possibili grazie all’utilizzo del sistema a luce polarizzata.
E fu Polaroid a produrre le prime mascherine che permettevano di vedere il nuovo genere
cinematografico.
Proprio a questo avvenimento, si ispira la prima capsule collection del progetto Heritage.
Il clip-on torna, sofisticato e inedito, nel nuovo modello in acetato PDL 6045/S, che si caratterizza
per la forma rettangolare e tre colorazioni: bianco, nero e rosso. Nella parte frontale la scritta “Press”
indica il punto dove bisognava premere per applicare la mascherina ed è ancora visibile il dettaglio
in metallo che serviva a sostenerla.
I modelli in metallo PLD 6048/S e PLD 6049/S sono un’evoluzione
contemporanea del clip
on, con forma pilot il primo e quadrato il secondo. Entrambi mantengono il
dettaglio della scritta press sulla lente e il gancio in metallo nella parte frontale.
I modelli in acetato PLD 6046/S e PLD 6047/S sono un’ulteriore evoluzione, in chiave easy to wear,
che conserva la scritta press sulle lenti.
Il modello PLD 6047/S ha forma rotonda, mentre il modello PLD 6046/S quadrata.
Cinque modelli iconici, che celebrano la capacità di innovare del loro inventore: Edwin Land, l’uomo
con lo sguardo sempre rivolto al futuro e la visione che ancora oggi sfida il tempo e ispira milioni di
persone. Come i creativi che nel Design Studio di Milano ripercorrono la storia di Polaroid, per
condensare 80 anni di stile in nuove capsule collection che reinterpretano i modelli di un’epoca,
creando occhiali dal sapore artigianale già veri e propri pezzi da collezione.
