Il vincitore del Tour de France Jonas Vingegaard raccoglie il trofeo creato dai vetrai cechi

Fondazione Libellule Insieme e Yves Rocher rinnovano l'appuntamento con i Beauty Atelier

The Czech company LASVIT has made a trophy for one of the
world’s most prestigious races, the Tour de France. It is for the twelfth time
running that LASVIT has made the trophy for this race, and this year’s iconic
trophy was once again designed by Peter Olah, the head of interior design with
ŠKODA AUTO, a company that has been a long-term partner for the Tour de
France bicycle race.

Last night in Paris, Jonas Vingegaard celebrated his
victory in the 109th Tour de France after traversing
over 3 300 kilometers. The 25-year-old received his
crystal-glass trophy made by the Czech company
LASVIT at the Parisian Champs-Élysées. The green
trophy for the winner of the points classification was
awarded to Wout van Aert.
Peter Olah, the head of the interior design
department at ŠKODA AUTO, explains: “This year,
the Tour de France trophies were inspired by the art
of Czech glassmaking, and they aim to symbolize the
transient nature of the moment: the trophy is in a
way similar to the sport of cycling, where even after
one achieves moments of exaltation and triumph,
one must continue to strive to be the best they can in
order to stay on top. The trophy’s design also
symbolizes the motifs of bicycling, its dynamism and
energy.”
The trophies are sixty centimeters high, weigh four
kilograms, and are made of crystal glass made by
LASVIT’s traditional Bohemian glassmaking
methods in the town of Nový Bor. The elegant trophy
consists of a single piece of hand-blown and hand-cut crystal glass. The perfectly symmetrical
cut plays with the light, making it refract differently depending on where you observe it from.
Blowing and hand-cutting the trophies took the glassmakers hundreds of hours of work, and the
final cutting and sanding of certain components can take a master glassmaker up to three weeks.
LASVIT has made its mark by creating lighted glass sculptures and installations which have
been featured in venues all over the world. It also has much experience with making unique
trophies, sculptures and awards.
The company has made trophies not only for the cyclists of Tour de France, but also for some of
the world’s best tennis players, such as Rafael Nadal or Andy Murray, the winners of the
prestigious Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi. Traditionally, a LASVIT
trophy is also awarded to the Olympic medalists, as well as the tennis players of the WTA
Livesport Prague Open.
